DATA MANAGEMENT

STORAGE AREA NETWORK

SAN is a network which provides access to consolidated, block level data storage. SANs are primarily used to enhance storage devices, such as disk arrays, tape libraries, and optical jukeboxes, accessible to servers so that the devices appear to the operating system as locally attached devices.

SOFTWARE-DEFINED STORAGE

(SDS) is an evolving concept for computer data storage software to manage policy-based provisioning and management of data storage independent of the underlying hardware.

TAPE DRIVE, AUTO LOADER & TAPE LIBRARY

A tape drive is a data storage device that reads and writes data on a magnetic tape. Magnetic tape data storage is typically used for offline, archival data storage. Tape media generally has a favourable unit cost and a long archival stability.

NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE

NAS is a file-level computer data storage server connected to a computer network providing data access to a heterogeneous group of clients. NAS is specialized for serving files either by its hardware, software, or configuration.

CLOUD STORAGE

Is a model of data storage in which the digital data is stored in logical pools, the physical storage spans multiple servers (and often locations), and the physical environment is typically owned and managed by a hosting company.

BACKUP & DISASTER RECOVERY

When backing up your data, you are protecting both active and inactive information which encompasses all of your production data.Disaster recovery focuses on the IT or technology systems supporting critical business functions.
